SCR TREE UPDATE
So y'all remember that tree that almost ate me, right? Do I have to like, get a link? I will in a bit, I'm feeling lazy right now (it's my birthday, you can't make me) and I have too many faerie tags. (LOOK I GOT THE LINK)
So anyways things changed. I actually discovered this awhile ago when I went in the woods to film for
anobjectinspace in the fall. There used to be a natural 'path' that led straight to the tree (and nowhere else) behind the big rock; that's where I was when it was trying to lure me in, I stopped at the head of that path (it's very short, and once over the rock I could see the tree directly and uh, realized something was wrong). So I went to go film that path and - it's gone.
We've been living here for something like eleven years now; the path was there when we moved in, and has been there since, up until this year. It just sort of naturally grew over. At the entrance, there were branches hanging low, over the rock, so you couldn't even comfortably climb over it to get to the path; and looking down it, I saw other branches grown across as well.
I wondered why now, several years after the tree had actually been vacated, would this happen; and circled around the regular way, to have a look at the tree. And...most of it is gone. It had sort of, um, exploded? I'm not sure what happened. Up until then, it had been leaning sort of upright on a nearby tree, disconnected from its root system since it had been burnt away there. But now its branches are scattered all over - some leaning against other trees, some on the ground - and the main bulk of the tree is lying much more vertically.
This could have been a natural result of the huge storm we had that fall; but I'm also considering the possibility that it could be related to the way the faeries that used to live here completely disappeared last summer. IDK.
UNRELATED ETA my body and
anobjectinspace are both abusing me

This sounds really odd too... if you had fae or some kind of spirits living there, and the tree is now destroyed... it seems unlikely the two are unrelated. I suppose it could have been natural events that forced the fairies out, or it could have been something more paranormal. I don't know enough about these things to say, though I wish I did!
(And happy birthday!)

IDK. I really wish I knew what had happened. Maybe they just outgrew the area...it's a rather small patch of woods, all considered.
(Thanks ccc:!)

And yeah, it's still fucking creepy D: D: D: I was nervous to even go near it to film it, but I did get close enough to get vid of where we found the cat. The whole thing is still really scary for me, and sometimes I'm afraid of scaring other people when I tell them to be really cautious around anything that sounds like it might be a luring-faerie, but I don't want people to get in danger like I was :C

(Also, happy birthday, if somewhat belated.)

Here it is again (http://poto-heart.livejournal.com/67713.html) if it's not working for whatever reason

Hmm, that's strange. It's working for me, and it's definitely a public entry. Maybe LJ is acting up.

Maybe something doesn't want me reading it. *spooky music*

OKAY SO it's really short so I'll just copy+paste it for you here shall I? Goddamn my journal must be like, illegible to anybody who hasn't been watching me for two years or so, SORRY ABOUT THAT xD;;

"Alright, this is what I experienced in the woods behind my house. It's probably going to get pretty tl;dr.
First, a quick introduction to my cat, since she's a bit important to the story; she was a rescue, and incredibly intelligent. One time she woke dad up because the sump pump was running on dry in the middle of the night (if you're not familiar with them, if they run but there's no water they'll eventually burn out, and are expensive to replace). We had two other cats at the time that weren't concerned about it at all, so I don't know why she knew there was something wrong, but she woke dad up and led him right down into the basement to the sump pump, LOL.
And now, the actual story.
So our backyward backs up onto a plot of woods that's not too big, but still abundant with the most annoying sort of wildlife anyways (coyotes, foxes, skunks, pretty much everything that might want to eat our garbage or threaten our pets). Like most wooded area in New England, it's all new growth over what used to be cleared farmland, so there's also an old property-dividing rock wall that runs through it, with odd gatherings of rocks in certain places. There's also a very large rock planted right at the edge of the woods, think about two-three feet high, wide enough to stand on.
One afternoon I decided to go into the woods, and for some reason rather than going the usual path into the woods to the small creek that runs through it, which was where I wanted to get to, I decided to climb over the huge rock, since I had seen what looked like a clear enough path to walk through there. So I climb over the rock, and immediately stop. There was indeed an oddly clear path there, considering none of us ever went this way, and it led straight to this really weird tree that looked dead. And full of eyes. It was like there were a million creatures in its branches, staring at me.
I couldn't move, out of fear probably, and then I hear a meow behind me; it's my cat, who rarely left the house, standing on the rock behind me, her tail lashing and her fur all standing up. The meow got me moving again, and I pretty much scrambled backwards over the rock again, not wanting to turn away from the things in the tree until I was over it; my cat kept bolting ahead of me towards the house, then coming back to trot next to me because I couldn't run as fast (asthmatic, only two legs, etc.).
So I got inside alright. But that wasn't the end of the story, unfortunately. That afternoon, my sister's cat (this ENORMOUS tuxedo cat that often acted pretty loopy, also a rescue) went missing. Three days later we found him out in the woods next to that very same tree, dead, without a mark on him to show how he had died; it was like he had just keeled over. At the bottom of the tree was this odd charring, like just the bottom of the tree had caught fire, none of the dead leaves around it or any part of the tree; it had burned almost halfway through, but the tree was still standing."

Also, yay for getting out of their in one piece.
