BAKING POST OF MADNESS
Mar. 29th, 2011 08:53 pmOr, 'baking post of manliness', which is what I almost wrote originally because my typos can be pretty intense.
FIRST AND FOREMOST, for a certain someone, this is an official funfetti cake box:

And there is also funfetti frosting:

You can also make such a cake from scratch, although in that case it would rightfully be called a 'confetti' cake or some such similar since funfetti belongs to pillsbury. Also, there is something about the sprinkles they use in the pillsbury version that is so much more delicious than just adding regular sprinkles to cake yourself, which I have yet to be able to replicate. Anyways basically funfetti is the most delicious thing to ever come out of a box OMNOMNOM
ETA picture of funfetti cupcake (no, I did not make this, I don't have any beautiful icing tips like this because I only allow myself one space-consuming hobby, which is sewing, cake decorating is straight out)

Okay now to some actual baking stuff: I am making the nutella brownies again this weekend, with less butter (but not a lot less) and possibly adding chocolate chips or maybe peanut butter chips (OM NOM NOM) or perhaps trying nutella/peanut butter half-and-half or maybe I will just do ALL OF THESE THINGS, I can't decide. Oh, and here is the nutella brownies recipe, but the result, although delicious, LITERALLY drips butter. I mean it, literally. Puddles of butter. On the plates. Optimal brownie butterage is just a little bit less than dripping butter (no, really, and if your brownies keep coming out dry that is why! MORE BUTTER, or whatever you're substituting for butter) so I am going to see if I can tweak it just enough that they will not be leaving butter all over the place, and if so will give y'all my tweaked version of the recipe.
I also want to do some cookies from scratch, probably just chocolate chip or like, peanut butter with peanut butter chips. Because I love peanut butter chips. Maybe chocolate cookies with peanut butter chips...
Basically I am baking a lot of things this weekend so if anybody has any suggestions SUGGEST.
BTW: irony of my life: I love, love, love all of these unhealthy baked goods that require butter, but I HATE handling butter. And I hate melting it, because of the smell. If butter is on my hands, I get wicked grossed out. Which makes me sad especially in the case of that DELICIOUS ALMOND CRESCENTS recipe, which requires that you grate the butter into the bowl with a metal grater. Just imagine the results. I'll give you a hint: it took me about half an hour (it was two whole sticks) and both of my hands were covered in butter by the end. I am determined next Christmas to find a...better way of doing it.

Date: 2011-03-30 09:28 am (UTC)Hah I'm not allowed to cook any more (other than microwave), partly because I forget things are cooking and wander off. I do it with my damned microwave all the time as it is.
YAy thankyou! Hahah if you take photos you realise I am going to make you let me link to those too :-P
