[livejournal.com profile] anobjectinspace got his holiday gifts! So now I can post them here for you all to see o u o

I SEWED HIM SOME MICES )

So yes, there they are :3 sorry for lack of actual commentary, I made them quite awhile ago, and am not in the best of spirits tonight (everything's okay though).

Check the icon. Nice, eh? Did you guys even think I kept this icon? I actually didn't remember I still had it. It feels so old. So 2011. Lordy.

Anyways, this is mostly an Aramii post. Also a reminder that if y'all don't suggest to me what I should make a post about I will have to come up with a topic all on my own, and right now that might end messy because the topic I want to talk about is actually not suitable for a mixed crowd I think. Internal trans affairs. That sort of thing. (ETA for those actually wondering: this is not actually a cis trust issue, more of a situation where I think I will probably screw up somehow and would rather do it where I can be reprimanded by a fellow trans person before I put my stupidity out in a public place where it might give uninformed allies all kinds of wrong ideas)

(To any transphobe reading: yes, it is to do with the gay mafia. Obviously. We're planning parties. Parties where we brainwash children into becoming trans*. You can find out more about these sorts of things here. Arm yourself.)

Right I said Aramii post didn't I? )

Ergh. I know I sound really abrupt tonight. The weather is hitting me hard (headache, earaches, and half my joints hurt randomly on and off...right now my left thumb is twinging)

I am going to bed noooowww

Here is some music to keep you warm while I am gone

[livejournal.com profile] outdatedclocks has pointed out that my lower-back/hip problems, and my leg problems, are probably all related to the issues I have with my feet (lack of arches?). I've been making do with CVS-brand arch support pads, but they're not really enough, and I'd like to be able to do some cardio and upper-body stuff again, which I can't really now since my back hurts alllll the time. I'd been putting off talking to my doctor about it because of my terrible experiences with my last one...even though this one's shown no indication she's suddenly going to go all 'you're lying, you must be sneaking nachos in the middle of the night, fatty' on me. In fact, she'll probably be happy to help me out, since she wants me exercising before I go on T since I have a genetic disposition towards hypertension (dad's been hospitalized for it).

BTW, for those curious about the whole doctor saga, since I've posted it around a few places but not actually here at my main journal I think (since I just realized last night [livejournal.com profile] ocelotofdoom had never read the whole thing)...I submitted the whole thing to First, Do No Harm (excellent blog BTW) so you can read it here (it's so long I don't see a need to copy+paste it here P:)

Speaking of [livejournal.com profile] ocelotofdoom, we might be hanging out this weekend :D or rather, probably are. I am still working out the logistics, I think I'll stay on campus this weekend and take the train into the city. It would mean missing a therapy appointment, but I've skipped weeks in the past (or rather, therapist has cancelled on me) so I know it won't do any damage emotionally or to my comfort level with him.

Okay I really should go to class 6 u 9;;

ETA TAG PARTY

We just had a fire inspection. Sooo after all the fire alarms being set off several times in a row (TOO LOUD FOR LIFE) and reassuring Tripper after he became convinced that he didn't get to meet the fire inspector because everybody hates him, I am now quite awake.

Also, I discovered this show, Pucca. SO CUTE. Also, Netflix says it's a kid's show but I'm pretty sure the main character is being raised by three gay fathers, and someone just literally shat a brick. NOT SURE WHAT THINK

Anyways, I decided to go ahead and define those terms I referenced yesterday in my post, plus a few others.

Keep in mind that I use them to describe phenomena I've found in research, that I've seen frequently enough to find notable; not things I have seen myself (for the most part) nor that I can verify is a pattern for any reason other than coincidence, cultural inspiration (in the case of folklore), or possible collaboration/inspiration between people making up paranormal experiences.

That said, let's go!! )

Alright, I think that's all I have for now. Besides which, I have to go out and buy some cookie tins so I can start baking. :D I will be taking video this time, I think.
potato_head: (o u o)
MY COOKIE CUTTERS HAVE ARRIVEDDDDD SO EXCITED I took them all out of the box to look at them even though I knew I would have to put them all back in again xD

Anyways I didn't take any pics because I think I'll wait until I get their permanent home and move them from the shipping box to there. IDK when I'll have a chance to do that though, I guess on Monday when I go out supply shopping for the baking I'm going to do, we'll stop by Joanne's or maybe just like Wal*mart and get a tub with some sort of dividers.

In other baking news, I'm starting to think maybe I should just make my own vanilla sugar, because it's very hard to come by but it's so tasty! GDI America why can't you pay attention to the awesome things they do in Germany, STOCK MY VANILLA SUGAR JDSKJFLDFG

So then I was thinking, well, I could probably also make my own cinnamon sugar, but there's not so much point to that since it's easily found in stores. Maybe it would be cheaper? Taste fresher? Probably, to both. So maybe I will make some when it gets closer to Christmas, to sprinkle on top of cookies/roll cookies in, which is what the vanilla sugar is for as well.

So then I thought about it some more and realized I can really flavor sugar with a lot of things. Any spice that I can find whole and dry, right? And I THINK I've heard something about lemon and orange sugar, using the rinds...I'm going to look into all that, because I can't think of what particularly I would actually want to flavor my sugar with, but I love flavored sugar.

Also, been enjoying Ghost Adventures a lot lately. Until like five seconds ago when they showed an actual photograph of a dead horse. Like, died in the dessert, mummified horse. As scared as I am of living horses, dead ones are EVEN WORSE. I have a hard time registering them as actually dead for some reason, so I have the impression that the eyeless, dried-out body is just going to get up and come after me ;n;

P.S. )

This is some of the funniest shit I have ever seen :D (SFW; it's Garfield comics with Garfield replaced with a normal, non-talking cat)

Mostly because it is, in my experience, a completely realistic portrayal of living with a cat. But I also might just talk way too much to my animals.

On a related note:

Paige and Nikka nap together!

On a related note to the related note: I have finally gotten Paige to watch The Grudge with me by explaining the theory I subscribe to that the haunting of the house is actually caused by the family's(/Toshio's) cat, which has aged into a bakeneko (magical cat/cat demon with two tails) and is terrorizing people using what it observed of its now-dead people.

And now mom has come to sit in here and ask us to explain everything that happens (we're like five minutes into the movie) and interrupt the movie with vaguely tangential anecdotes ("so on facebook I saw these people talking about how their cat got stuck in a wall...") and then ask us to explain what she missed while she was talking. Argghhhh.

Acronyms

Ahaha. The college's GLBTA recently put up fliers around public areas that read, for example, '86% of BSU students know the 'G' in GLBTA stands for 'gay'. Did you?' and they have one for every letter in the acronym.

Apparently, '12% of BSU students know the 'A' in GLBTA stands for 'allies'.

Hmm, I wonder what else people might think that A stands for...? No, no, wait, allies are definitely more important.

Segueing!!!!! into a related topic.

I, honestly, don't like the long/typical acronyms at all. TBH I feel that an acronym that actually includes all identities would be fairly long...and probably change frequently. And there's the fact that T, if it gets in there at all, is such an umbrella term that I feel it's weird to expound into all the varieties of queer when there's an umbrella term for that. Although I do understand people can be uncomfortable with the word queer since it is still used hatefully.

I also, honestly, hear the acronyms used more often by bigots than slurs. This is probably because I'm in a more 'liberal' area, so modern bigotry is more common here, meaning non-overt bigotry. Basically, if somebody uses the term 'LGBTQ people(s)' I can expect that whatever they say next will be, at best, very patronizing.

So, what WOULD be a good way to label such things? No, really, I'm asking, because I'm really not sure. I like QSA, but obviously if the focus is on queer people, not trans etc. people. There's also the problem that asexual people who are hetero- or aromantic may not ID as queer. I also kind of like QTI (queer/trans/intersex) but it suffers from the same problem as the last one, and probably others I'm not seeing. TBH terms I favor the most are ones that don't try to name everybody, like Rainbow Guild or Dragon Alliance (okay, I made the last one up, but it seems like a good way to inspire respect right? Stop harassing us or we'll tell our dragons to fucking EAT YOU). Discuss?
