Simple test for that: describe your experiences and then compare those to the experiences of other people. If there's no match, it's probably just you. The higher the overlap, the higher the chance that it's a pattern of oppression rather than an individual quirk.

That is a very astute observation, and I think it applies to a wide range of differences which are not immediately obvious (as contrasted with those that are, such as skin color).
