I think a chiropractor would probably help the pain, but arch support I'm guessing will prevent it in the first place; I've noticed walking on my toes (which I do a lot) helps, so my guess is the arches are at least a big part of the problem. I might try a chiro as well, though.
Yeah everybody wants me to file a complaint against her/sue her...unfortunately I'm kind of in a tough place there in a way that's difficult to describe; basically my mom is not on my side here at all and won't stop sending my siblings to said doctor, and nor will she back me up if I tried to do anything, which I would need her to because she was there for many of my visits with the doctor and talked with her several times. And she has a history of denying things that blatantly happened. So I think it would end up being my word vs the doctor's AND hers =/
