Happy Thanksgiving!

I meant to do this update post yesterday and then I...didn't. Yeah. LOL. So.
As expected, I did not finish the bats before I came home for thanksgiving. I decided to bring them home to work on them, and have been doing so, although not as much as I should be, LOL. They're very close to being done though. Expect pictures tomorrow sometime!
Thanksgiving was fun. No extended family. Very relaxing :D
IDK what possessed me to go to the mall today. AUghieaFnriueangtr. And no, I had not forgotten it was Black Friday, apparently I just thought it would be fine if we went in the afternoon lololol. Well, I survived, mainly by avoiding the department stores (and the disney store, where they formed a line of people outside and let them in based on how many people were in the store...! Great idea, but I would feel guilty going in in that situation knowing I probably wasn't going to buy anything). Found two CDs in FYE :D a Linkin Park CD I didn't even know existed (not that hard, I'm pretty oblivious to media) and the Schindler's List soundtrack that I keep forgetting to look for.
Going out at 11 tonight to see the new Harry Potter movie in IMAX :D :D :D you know, it's not so much that I think the movie itself will be better in IMAX; I've inherited my dad's love for mass-produced, what one might call 'gimmicky' technology. It's fun. :D
Anyway, now I have some Srs Thoughts.
I've never considered myself a political activist. Mostly because, quite frankly, I'm too lazy. In reality I suppose I am on some level an activist, because I spend a LOT of time educating people on a one-on-one level, and finding ways to encourage them to come to me and ask questions. For example, I ended up fielding very productive Q&A sessions with my two roommates last year on everything from trans* issues (frequently - and somewhat expected once I came out to them) to real vampires/sanguines and otherkin (the last one was especially unexpected, lol). One of them would ask me a question and it would end up with us staying up until 2 AM with them asking questions and me answering them as best as I could.
So yeah, that's my current personal brand of political activism. Unfortunately, it's always been clear to me that getting along in America would ask a lot more from me, because I'm not willing to wait around for somebody else to lobby for me. My plan, when I was young, was quite frankly just to move somewhere else. (This plan was also motivated by the fact that I disliked - and still do dislike - democracy as a political system). I considered Germany, Canada, France.
But I've finally realized (or maybe accepted) something that Corey already knew about me (of course). That won't happen. I could make it happen if I wanted to, but I really don't. I approach most things in a logical way, but loyalty is not one of them; and I'm loyal to the US, because it's where I was born and that hasn't killed me yet. I'd still like to spend some time in other countries - I frequently miss Germany, and I was only there for three weeks! - but I only see myself truly making a living, raising my chickens and growing old in America.
So basically...well, fuck. I'll have to learn to be a political activist sometime soon.
Because no way in hell am I going to tolerate the system Texas currently has for legal gender change, which is basically 'mail us everything we could possibly demand from you, and we will at random decide whether to send you back A) a corrected birth certificate B) a 'you no can haz' or C) no response at all'. Guys, come on, you're my home state and I love you but this is so much the opposite of cool. In fact, it's downright humiliating. :C
Sooo I guess at some point I'm going to have to get off my lazy ass and help the less lazy people who are undoubtedly already trying to do something about it.
But first, it's time for me to go finish those bats :D
