Winter Wolf covers + alternates
Feb. 12th, 2013 11:50 pmAlright, I've gotten all of one response re: wanting to see the ebook covers here, but I decided FUCK IT, IT'S MY DREAMWIDTH/LJ/GENERAL BLOG. And right now I've got nothing to do while I wait for Stata to download and drink my strawberry-kiwi juice. So Imma go ahead and post 'em.
Most (all?) of y'all have probably already seen the cover for Winter Wolf, but you haven't seen
So this is the final cover we went with, the one you currently see on Amazon and in the eBook itself.

It was also the first one I did - the illustration just fit so well. So this was the first eBook cover I ever made in every sense of the word - the first one I'd ever done, first one done for a client/for pay, and the first one to get published.

I still love this one! Even if it was a pain trying to work out where I wanted that pawprint. In the end, it didn't really fit the mood of the story.

This one's a bit retro. And yes, that's a coyote, not a wolf. This one took a bit of work as well, but it was a good learning experience - I had to visually extend the photo so it didn't just cut off abruptly halfway up the cover. (I used a free texture for that. If y'all are wondering where I got the textures I used in all of these, they're from Lost and Taken, which has a whole library of awesome textures that are free for unlimited personal and commercial use. One of the many things linked in my personal resources post).

Aaand the final cover concept. This was actually the original idea I had, before I dove into the stock images. Basic, classy, etc. etc.
