U guiz
I found
A THING
Annd I WANT IT.
(Of course I want the most expensive one - RPG Maker VX Ace. I thought I could live without most of the stuff between VX and XP, but Ace has a trait system and other game functionality I just can't ignore.)
I mean, this was kind of expected, right? I've already had way too much fun building games through Pokemon ROM hacking, but I eventually got frustrated with that because the tools are imperfect (not that I'm saying anything against the people who created those tools, because they are fucking amazing and I could have never built those tools in the first place - they actively untangle this old, outdated code and then build programs that do a lot of the hard work of hacking for you, THAT IS FUCKING AWESOME.)
And then there's also the fact that I told
dakfire about a farming sim I want to build a few weeks ago (with the main unique features being 1. you get to pick where your farm/land is! and 2. you live in a world of anthropomorphic animals! (drawn realistically but acting anthropomorphically)) and she gave me a few months to find out how to make this game, since I was starting from not knowing any code at all. I am not sure what the 'or else' was, and now I will never have to live in fear of finding out! 6 u 9
(And yes, it is an RPG maker, but one of the intense coders in the community has developed something that will allow you to make farming sims in it! It will still be awhile before I actually make this game because honestly I think I should try to learn at least some coding myself before I even start on it...so I'd be making other games first.)

Date: 2013-04-06 06:29 pm (UTC)IDK if he sells them or not, but if he can't (I'm assuming there are some similar programs that don't allow you to) you might want to show him those, since they allow you to sell games you make with it.

Date: 2013-04-07 12:18 am (UTC)I'm thinking of getting the IG program as well, which you can use to make action RPGs as opposed to turn-based. Also platformers, apparently.
I am going to make a billion and one games and most of them are going to be really stupid or really creepy 6 u 9

Date: 2013-04-07 12:43 am (UTC)Apparently, they're so old they are no longer supported and are considered "abandoned-ware." That's why you can just DL them. Which I guess makes them a bit dodgy and you might not wanna do that, or, it might be a way to experiment until you can afford the bells and whistles version. D has the Frankenstein's monster of computers so he can't always use fancy software on it because it's about a million years old, made of parts, and quirky. He's also pretty... er, well he doesn't always mind dodgy stuff (to an extent that worries me, sometimes, though this is gray area/harmless enough so I'm not gonna bug him over it).
I didn't know any of this so hey, we learned new things together. XD
