Dad's gone a bit wild over ancestry.com :P he's traced our family back pretty well. Apparently, I'm 3rd generation out of Canada, and possibly from Ireland before then; and on Mom's side, mostly German, as I already knew (her mom's family name before she married was Schroeder, I even used that name for awhile back when I was calling myself Azrael like a baby goth :P).
He's still puzzled over why one of his female ancestors was on one census listed as a daughter, then on the next, apparently married to her brother. It's obvious to me that they were already married but were living with the parents and they just listed her as 'daughter' because 'daughter-in-law' was too long for the form, or just out of mistake.
Sorry the rest of this got a bit bland and insipid, probably because I'm still dealing with some emotional issues.
Am a bit upset because Mom has been using Tripper's old choke chain when she walks him, instead of his harness. She says she 'likes it more'. My guess is she's still using the Caesar method of tugging on the leash to reprimand him if he pulls. He doesn't even pull when he's in the harness, though. Maybe she's just shit at walking him...I'm thinking of hiding the choke chain, I don't want him wearing it.
Also, he is apparently scared of cooking pans? D: IDK what that's about. I showed him one because he was watching me wash it and he ran in the other room! I tried to aclimate him to it like I did with the vacuum but he was acting really anxious and kept his head away from it. The only thing I can think of is that he might have been a greedyguts and stole something off a hot one once, and burnt himself. Poor bb :C
Oh, and I was torturing myself the other day by looking online at the animals at the local ASPCA. I'm still hurting from the lack of having a cat. We have more than enough space and money for another animal - we could probably comfortably fit another medium-sized, active dog and a cat or two in here - but we don't have the time for a second dog right now. I looked at the dogs too though, just to have a look, and there's a beautiful blackstaffie "chow chow mix" (lol, I think they are counting on people never having seen a chow chow in their life). And apparently she's good with dogs and cats, and I want to go meet her, but obviously there's no point because we don't have the time for another dog right now! ASlkfjdskfljdsafs she's so pretty though!
I have been working with Tripper on his good dog manners, though, and he's picking it up fast. That makes me happy, I was thinking I might not be able to teach him at all, with Mom likely undoing everything I teach him every time she takes him out somewhere. But he learns behaviors like that really fast, like I found out when I started rewarding him for self-calming. Anyways, I hope eventually he'll be able to make friends with other dogs instead of annoying the fuck out of them.
He just stole the blanket off my feet ;n; so rude. BUT HE'S SO CUTE
Also, I love this cover of this song so much:
I am also surprised by how popular my latest creepypasta on halfdeer is. And it gave Amanda a nightmare, but that is entirely her own fault, I sent it to her in the middle of the afternoon and she waited until THREE AM to read it. But I based it on my own fears, which in retrospect should have been the most obvious way to start.
Tripper is carrying around a hockey puck in his mouth again lmfao xD
