Just got out of surgery =D...okay, not just, I got out like three hours ago, but I only now feel well enough to be chilling out with my computer.
The whole thing was a really good experience, the nurses were great, I was nervous but they were all super helpful both before and after, easy to find if I needed something even though I didn't have a button to call them. They were also all very chatty and friendly, which I liked =D
The wait beforehand was pretty bad, because I just kept getting more and more nervous, and they had some trouble getting the IV into me (had to stick my left hand twice before trying my right) and that hurt a bit. The IV hurt too much for me to play my DS, so we got the TV on and watched the Maury show (nothing else was on, it was just 27 channels lol) and I listened to Dad's iPod for a bit. Then when it was time for the surgery, my surgeon came to check on me and make sure I didn't have any questions, then the anesthesiologist came over and injected a cocktail into my IV to relax me. It worked REALLY fast, pretty much immediately, and them wheeling me into the surgery room became a fun ride 8D then pretty much I moved onto the operating table, they started putting stuff on me (heart monitor things and such) and then after that I don't remember.
When I woke up I had an oxygen mask on, and it hurt a bit. I drifted in and out for a bit, then finally managed to ask the nurse waiting nearby if I could take the mask off; she took it off for me, and when I said I was in pain she gave more morphine. She also adjusted my bed when I said my back hurt a bit, and brought me ice cubes when I said my mouth was dry. The nurses were really chatty around me and it was fun to listen to, even though I was too out of it to do anything but smile and ask for things really quietly.
Once I was awake enough, they brought me from the recovery room back to surgical daycare, where my parents were. I got ginger ale and saltine crackers, om nom nom. Especially delicious because I hadn't eaten all day, but I always love ginger ale and saltines. I also got my phone, and discovered that one of my coworkers had called to see if I would come in and work. She had called while I was in surgery. xD;; um. I didn't bother to respond. I texted a few people who had asked me to let them know I was alive, and nibbled my way through saltines and the ginger ale. I would have eaten faster - I wasn't feeling too weak to eat or anything - but they were so dry, I had trouble swallowing.
At that point I found out my surgery had taken longer than expected because it turns out my gallbladder was a lot worse than they had thought. It was so swollen it had sort of fused with my liver because of the way it was pressed against it. Eww. But my surgeon got it out no problem, it just took longer. I hung out there for awhile, waking up still, eating and drinking, then got wheeled out to the car in a wheelchair, which turned out to be good because i was vastly overestimating my ability to walk at that point (even just now I was walking around the house and bumped into a wall. Um, oops.)
Now, I'm hanging out eating cheezits and drinking ginger ale. The pain is pretty mild, it kind of feels like the beginning of a gallbladder attack, gets a bit worse when I move around too much but then it eases off again pretty quickly.
Also, I received a bunch of the stuff I bought today! The bag and necklace are awesome! I also got the Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 Deluxe, looks brand-new and unopened as promised but I haven't tried to install it yet, not sure which computer I want to install it on (mine or mom's).
I'm gonna go nap a bit more now before supper.
