LOL school this week. Oh lord.
Okay so I had a presentation/speech on Wednesday. I think it went well! My last one went well, but then again, I filmed+edited video for it featuring Tripper (it was on clicker-training dogs), so the grade might belong more to him than to me, lmfao. But anyways, preparing for that left me with like, no time to sew, although I somehow managed to squeeze in four hours between Sunday and Monday. Saaad. I've actually decided to stay in the dorms this weekend instead of driving home...just so I can get some sewing done. Bawww.
Thennn also on Wednesday something surprising happened! We had a test in microeconomics, which I have been doing surprisingly well in (like...acing the class without studying or opening the book well). The teacher pulled me aside after class and asked if I was considering majoring in economics. We discussed my current double-major and how an additional minor would be too much but I'm thinking about picking up an economics degree while I'm in graduate school. And then (AND THEN AND THEN) he asked me if I have considered studying abroad, which I definitely have, and told him so. And he said there's this scholarship available to study at any top university in Canada but to qualify you need a professor to sponsor you, and he said he'd be more than willing to sponsor me. I was like ANSIHAUBFIRJOEUFIET YES and today went to the office of international whatsits (lol) and asked about it, and the secretary had to go in back and find out about it, and came back and said that she didn't have a packet of information for me as he said, but instead I should leave my information and the director of the program would have a PERSONAL MEETING/INTERVIEW WITH ME ABOUT IT. Which reminds me I'm going to go check my email RIGHT NOW and see if she's sent me anything yet.
Okay no she hasn't. But I would so love to study abroad in Canada. Much less scary than Germany, which is what I had been planning to do, and still want to eventually but a semester in Germany right now omg lol ich denke nicht.
Aaaand one more thing. Had to talk to our teacher in management class about kicking another student out of our group because he has attended one meeting out of like...six and has actually made other group members do the parts of the project he was supposed to do individually and so on. The teacher for that class is really awkward, she's basically got all the tact and managerial approach of Michael Scott from The Office. She seems to think sexual harassment only exists to get managers into trouble, and when giving an example of such a few weeks ago, she made a real effort to be inclusive! By which I mean she went REALLY AWKWARDLY IN DEPTH into a hypothetical scenario in which a man coerces his male employee into sexual favors.
Anyways we stayed after to talk with her and she went on a long tangent of diversity of values and how his expectations of what 'being a student' is must be very different from ours etc. and finally I was just like 'but can we kick him out of the group' and somewhere in there I think the answer was yes? Anyway we agreed to give him an ultimatum and dispersed, I ended up the last leaving. I happen to be the only white student in our group. SOOOO the teacher cornered me to talk about how surprising it is that it isn't the VISIBLE diversity that causes our group problems but rather the HIDDEN diversities like DIFFERENCES IN VALUES. And the worst part about this is that she goes on forever whenever she talks about anything so I was legit trapped for about five minutes listening to her. AUhguanfrmoeamjfrea
