Going back to school later today. Oh god the weather is horrendous so mom is going to drive me sometime this evening because her car has all-wheel drive.

Anyways I've been alone in the house all day and it's been acting creepy. I swear the TV in here has been changing volume when I'm not in the room because I'll randomly be able to hear it across the house (I have it down really low). And I keep hearing noises upstairs, and the cat is acting weird. When I went upstairs to use the bathroom she kept scratching at the door then ran downstairs when I opened it. :C FEELIN' NERVOUS GUIZ.

Oh so I was thinking. Like, so far I've kept a lot of my paranormal experiences and such out of this journal mostly because I was afraid of looking like a loony, and that was mostly because my ex straight-up told me that she thought I was a loony, and I'm over that enough now that IDC if some people inevitably think I am a loony. It also helps that I've learned that a lot of the things I see/experience have been seen by other people. Okay where was I going with this

Right

So I'm probably going to be talking about paranormal shit in this journal a lot more now. Like 50% of this journal is going to be about ghosts and faeries and reiki and cryptozoology and my theories on critters like Mothman (spoiler: most of these theories are OMG IT'S A FAE). The other 50% will be plushes and then probably like 15% will be trans stuff and angst.

Yeah, that adds up to 115%. That's 'cause I'm awesome.

So yeah I just figured I would give fair warning. I mean I know some people really hate to read about that kind of stuff, or they're upset by it, so I just wanted you all to know it's going to be a regular thing.

HEY GUYS guess what I found! The original telling of my scary tree experience~

ETA YEARS LATER: I'm copy+pasting that here now since I am no longer a complete social recluse and some of my friends are not actually members of [livejournal.com profile] ontdcreepy, here it is:

Alright, this is what I experienced in the woods behind my house. It's probably going to get pretty tl;dr.

First, a quick introduction to my cat, since she's a bit important to the story; she was a rescue, and incredibly intelligent. One time she woke dad up because the sump pump was running on dry in the middle of the night (if you're not familiar with them, if they run but there's no water they'll eventually burn out, and are expensive to replace). We had two other cats at the time that weren't concerned about it at all, so I don't know why she knew there was something wrong, but she woke dad up and led him right down into the basement to the sump pump, LOL.

And now, the actual story.

So our backyward backs up onto a plot of woods that's not too big, but still abundant with the most annoying sort of wildlife anyways (coyotes, foxes, skunks, pretty much everything that might want to eat our garbage or threaten our pets). Like most wooded area in New England, it's all new growth over what used to be cleared farmland, so there's also an old property-dividing rock wall that runs through it, with odd gatherings of rocks in certain places. There's also a very large rock planted right at the edge of the woods, think about two-three feet high, wide enough to stand on.

One afternoon I decided to go into the woods, and for some reason rather than going the usual path into the woods to the small creek that runs through it, which was where I wanted to get to, I decided to climb over the huge rock, since I had seen what looked like a clear enough path to walk through there. So I climb over the rock, and immediately stop. There was indeed an oddly clear path there, considering none of us ever went this way, and it led straight to this really weird tree that looked dead. And full of eyes. It was like there were a million creatures in its branches, staring at me.

I couldn't move, out of fear probably, and then I hear a meow behind me; it's my cat, who rarely left the house, standing on the rock behind me, her tail lashing and her fur all standing up. The meow got me moving again, and I pretty much scrambled backwards over the rock again, not wanting to turn away from the things in the tree until I was over it; my cat kept bolting ahead of me towards the house, then coming back to trot next to me because I couldn't run as fast (asthmatic, only two legs, etc.).

So I got inside alright. But that wasn't the end of the story, unfortunately. That afternoon, my sister's cat (this ENORMOUS tuxedo cat that often acted pretty loopy, also a rescue) went missing. Three days later we found him out in the woods next to that very same tree, dead, without a mark on him to show how he had died; it was like he had just keeled over. At the bottom of the tree was this odd charring, like just the bottom of the tree had caught fire, none of the dead leaves around it or any part of the tree; it had burned almost halfway through, but the tree was still standing.

Now back to your regularly scheduled post

Turns out I couldn't find it because...IDK. Probably my fault somehow. I had checked that post before, I swear.

ANYWAYS yeah it has a few details that the summary of the incident from that more recent fae post doesn't have. And here are even more details! Things that I think are interesting/important to note that I left out before:

OMG it got rly long )
