GUESS WHAT?!
So when we went in to get our chickens, they didn't have all of the breeds they said they did - they were out of both Black Sex Link and Wyandottes (which is what Derek wanted for his bird). So Dad and I ended up picking out some Gold Comets....except we're pretty sure they're actually Cochins, because their legs are feathered! Mom got her Barred Rock and Paige and Derek both got Easter Eggers. Derek picked his out because she kept trying to climb straight out of the cage to get to people. (She's still doing that. If you go near the cage, she sticks her head straight out to have a look.)
In the pic above, they are, from left to right:
Leila, dad's chicken (I think...it's hard to tell the two Cochins/mystery chicks apart, but Leila keeps her head up more often, is assertive, and is a bit skinnier), Lady Macbeth aka Lady (my chicken, the other Cochin/mystery), Dereka/Derek Junior (Derek's EE, you can't see it here but she has some cool markings on her face), Belladonna aka Bella (Paige's EE), and at the back there is mom's as yet unnamed Barred Rock.
Here you can see the feathered legs on one of the suspected Cochins, as well as one of the EEs (Bella?) scratching in the background :D
