Took Tripper to the vet today. For the first time. I mean, MY first time bringing him, not his first time going, lol. He needed some shots (rabies, parvo, some other stuff) and a heartworm test and some other things. Dad made the appointment and was supposed to bring him, but his meeting got moved to 11:00, and the appointment was at 11:15...or so dad thought...
He woke me up at 10:45 to tell me I had to go...when I got there, we ended up in line behind a guy who brought in a kitty with heat stroke (the kitty was OK! I was worried and so was Tripper, all the kitties there seemed much more friendly than Nikka so he wanted to meet ALL OF THEM and was very sad that he wasn't allowed to, but his ears were all perked whenever he heard the kitty meow). So then after waiting for about twenty minutes I found out the appointment was for 10:15, not 11:15. O good. They were able to fit him in though.
He was really good for the vet, although by the third and fourth shot he was getting a little excited, thinking she was pinching him probably :P the only real problem was drawing blood for the heartworm, he got very upset about that and they ended up needing someone to hold his head and trying three different places (both hind legs and his neck) before finally finding he was much better about having it taken from his front legs. After that he was not so excited about the visit, LOL.
They were a bit surprised by his weight compared to how toned he is...he's about 10 lbs over the typical healthy weight for a lab, but it's because his parents were both bred to be larger and stronger than the usual lab; the vet expected him to be a bit chubby (which he is not) and was very impressed with his muscle tone.
On the way out we saw a HUGE husky - unfortunately he was afraid of other dogs so Tripper couldn't meet him (not that the vet's office is a good place for meeting anyway) and I had to keep Tripper close to me because he kept trying to go around the counter to stare at him (rude...I want to work on polite ways to greet other dogs because he just sort of charges up and makes no effort to be non-threatening and he scares the shit out of a lot of little dogs, but we don't have any friends with dogs who could help me out ;n;). Tripper did make friends with a nice man who was picking up his bengal kitten from her spay though :D he apparently had several animals at home, including a pig, and Tripper was waaay excited about smelling him.
Anyways...he has some yeast in his ears so we have some ear drops for him...and Dad left without texting me to bring the poop sample I forgot at home. Which was frustrating because they gave me the sample thing to bring it in and I wanted him to take my car and gas it up. I'm all kinds of annoyed with him for all of this.
