BAKING POST
Oct. 23rd, 2011 12:45 pmAlright, here's the things I baked last night!
First I did some rice crispie treats from this recipe. I replaced the peanut butter with Nutella. Results:
A MESS

ALSO, ANOTHER MESS (plz ignore the fact that I left the stove on)

Now, I would like to point out that I'm quite sure there are people out there who can make these rice crispy treats perfectly competently. Apparently, I am not one of those people. The above photo doesn't show the floor, which has rice crispies on it as well, plus a half-melted buttery marshmallow that ended up on the floor. And then on my foot.
They did taste alright. Not good enough to justify me utterly failing at baking again.

The second thing I made was the peanut butter chocolate chip cookies again! I made them TWICE this weekend. This time I doubled the recipe, because it makes less cookies than most cookie recipes, and they go FAST.
I used this recipe, but substituted rice crispies for oats because I hate oats. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO THIS, THE RESULTS ARE DELICIOUS. I also substituted half the chunky peanut butter for smooth low-fat peanut butter because Dad ate most of the chunky peanut butter xc but they still came out perfectly delicious.
The dough is especially heavenly:

You should bake them until they're nicely browned, like this:

They'll still be a bit soft when you take them out, but they'll keep cooking and firm up as long as you wait until they all have browned edges.

COOKIE MOUNTAIN

And the first cookie I ate from this batch.

I really highly recommend this recipe if you like peanut butter. You can always replace the chocolate chips with something else, or even nothing at all because the chunky peanut butter already adds some crunch. This is so delish though, and wicked easy.
For next weekend, I'm making some sugar cookies with icing and some boxed gluten-free cookies because I STILL CAN'T FIND RICE FLOUR ANYWHERE. I'm also putting cinnamon all over everything because omg cinnamon forever and ever

*makes the secret cinnamon-sign of the Cinnamon Brotherhood* Keep up the good work, brother!
