Earthquake

Considering how far it was from us I'm not sure this needs any saying, but we survived the earthquake just fine. We did feel it, though, despite the distance. Or rather, Paige felt it. It made her couch shake. At the time we didn't know it was an earthquake and decided her couch was haunted P:

Tripper spent most of this morning barking very enthusiastically at nothing. He's never done that before. I was half-awake so maybe I just didn't understand what he was barking at, but...idk, it was creepy. He went on for about a half hour so I don't know how it could be that somebody just passed by and spooked him and I didn't see them. I finally got him to settle down next to me so I could go back to sleep. He was nervous last night, too - got up just to walk around outside, not pee. When I was getting ready to sleep I thought I saw something really strange out of one of the windows...but I was tired, so it's not really worth describing unless I see it in a more lucid state.

Anyways, I finally found some tarot decks that I don't feel completely repulsed by. (I am inexplicably picky about tarot deck art considering I've never had my own deck...) Besides the standard Rider-Waite which I don't mind, but it was Corey's deck so I don't think I would feel comfortable using it. I've found that most of the cat-themed decks appeal to me, as well as a few others, so I'll be looking at which ones on my list are good for beginners. I'm leaning towards either the Medieval Cat deck or the Baroque Bohemian Cats deck.

A few 'creepy' things in my house that are actually not creepy at all:

The downstairs bathroom door. For some reason dad took it off its hinges awhile ago, and he put it back on at a slant somehow, and now it closes itself - with a good portion of its own weight behind it, so it feels rather forceful. There's no way to get it to stay open more than a crack, as soon as you stop touching it it closes. Tripper has gotten himself locked in the bathroom a few times like this, because he can't figure out how to open the door towards himself, and instead pushes it all the way shut with his nose :P

The mysterious light in the basement. The first time I passed by the basement and saw all the lights were off but it was still illuminated by a blue glow, I was quite frightened. Since then I have found that this happens on most nights, and combined with the fact that Derek and his buddies have been cleaning out down there, I can only conclude they keep leaving some sort of light on down there that isn't controlled by the main switch.

The weird noises in the middle of the night. Most actually dad snoring. Can be quite startling when you're all the way upstairs and at one end of the house, and he's all the way downstairs and at the other end; and he snores sporadically, not constantly. The rest of the noises are bats outside.

Anyways...hmm...Nikka got in a fight last night with something. I assume another cat, but I only heard her yowl, and by the time Tripper charged outside to rescue her, the other thing was apparently gone; he sniffed all over the yard and the path he seemed to be sniffing led to the trees near the woods. Also, she was soaking wet from the belly down. Not like 'the ground is dewy' kind of wet, and it was a hot night so we didn't have much dew anyways. It was like she had been wading in water. The nearest water is the creek in the woods. I'm not drawing any conclusions, it was just a strange incident.

Also, standing outside watching for your dark-colored dog at night, with no glasses on, is fucking scary ;n;

Here's some music:

Just using this icon because it doesn't get a lot of mileage anymore. :C so sad.

So I said in the other post that I wouldn't be talking about the fae because I was afraid of sounding crazy. Turns out the primary motivation was probably just laziness, since we had a big post on it in [livejournal.com profile] ontdcreepy I ended up discussing it a lot anyways so what I'm going to do is just compile information here for your viewing pleasure :D!
