Sorry I've been...not around ish lately, guiz. Stress from finals and moving out, mostly. Finally done with all that, though, WHOOP!
Speaking of...Soooo a lot of you probably aren't familiar with my religious um, orientation, since I don't really talk about it much (it's a bit complex) but suffice it to say that mostly, I'm dedicated to Anubis, and have a rather personal relationship with him. And when he needs my attention, he sends spiders. I suppose because they are the easiest thing to bother me with, being as yellow sac spiders, which move freely at night rather than sitting in nests, are not uncommon in our house, and although I'm not terrified of spiders they get my attention pretty quick, lmfao.
So - I go through periods where I drift away from Anubis (especially during periods of depression) and generally if I'm getting overstressed and could benefit from at least meditating on/with him a bit, he sends spiders to remind me. Now, in retrospect, I think he's been trying to get my attention for a few weeks - last weekend I remember one spider nearly dropping into my lap, and then another that just hung out on the ceiling above all of us for an absurdly long time and caught even Dad's attention; but I was so busy stressing that I kind of missed these signals, and yesterday it started getting intense.
I woke up from a nap yesterday with a spider bite on my side. Now, this was at school. My dorm room has no spiders; it's the least spider-friendly environment on the planet, being as the walls are constructed of solid cement bricks, there are no bugs anywhere, and very few places for a spider to hide. I never found the spider that bit me, either, but it's definitely a sack spider bite. Annoying.
Then, today - I go into a dark room to turn out the TV somebody's left on. I walk into a dangling spider, such that it hits my ear, drops down my body, and disappears off somewhere. It was just chilling there. Right where I needed to put my head to turn out the TV.
At this point I alert Felix to the fact that either my god wants me for something, or I have somehow managed to start making some Bad Spider Choices somehow. Or maybe the spider mafia is after me?
Then, several minutes after that, I go to put some food in the oven, and...nearly walk into ANOTHER dangling spider, about stomach-height. Directly in front of the stove.
I maneuvered around that spider to put my food in (it happily danced up and down at me the entire time) and then went to kneel and speak with Anubis - and got concern from him for kneeling on hard wood, MAYBE YOU SHOULDN'T SEND SPIDERS TO BITE ME, MY KNEES CAN TAKE A LITTLE HARDWOOD - and do already feel substantially better, but. lol. SO MANY SPIDERS OH GOD
I guess it's a good thing though that he uses something that can bite me and dangle in the air in my face to get my attention because apparently I will bullheadedly ignore anything subtler.
(And yes, when I went to get the food out of the oven six minutes later, there was no trace of dangly oven spider)
Alright, I should go Anubis some more and...sleep eventually, yeah

Date: 2012-05-09 04:46 am (UTC)Anubis has always fascinated me. He's been a favorite Egyptian god of mine since I was little. How did you end up dedicated to him? No answer needed if you don't feel like going through it, but I am curious! :)

Date: 2012-05-09 02:39 pm (UTC)As for how I ended up with Anubis...spiders, actually :P he got my attention with one on the Day of Anubis one year. At that point I really needed the connection with him, honestly, because if, say, a mouse died in the walls, I could 'see' the energy left by that, and death energy sort of decays if you just leave it, which looks pretty horrifying to me...so I was rather terrified at times and had no idea what was going on LMFAO. So he taught me what to do with that. There's, I think, some things that suggest that I've had a long-standing pre-existing relationship with him...like the fact that I've recently realized that one of my otherkin/spirit forms strongly resembles Ahemait (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ammit). So...I think it was more of a coming back to him than anything else?
