Since people were kind of interest in the post on digitigrade legs, decided to just do a quick chart of unguligrade legs as well.



Also note that ungulates don't tend to walk on all or even most of their nails...usually it is only one (horses, ponies) or two (deer, pigs). This is one of the things that makes ungulates very fragile in terms of their legs/feet, because they only have one or two toes that support all of their weight on one foot through the nail/tip of the toe. This makes for a lot of running/springing power since it frees up the toe knuckle as an extra joint for more 'bounce' but also makes for a very precarious situation if that one toe is damaged in some way.
